Il me plait ici de commencer par vous féliciter pour les initiatives heureuses que vous avez déployés pour faire vivre les célébrations eucharistiques à vos fidèles, soit par le canal des réseaux sociaux, soit par petits groupes pour ensuite élargir ces moments d’exception quand nous sommes revenus à la normale . Merci pour votre ingéniosité pastorale. Merci pour la générosité dont vous avez fait montre, chacun à son rythme il est vrai, pour soutenir la foi de vos fidèles. Mais nous devons aller plus en avant parce que la situation interne du pays l’exige mais surtout parce que le Christ notre Maître et Seigneur nous le commande.
Avant tout propos, je voudrais souhaiter, comme je l’ai déjà dit lors de la messe chrismale, qu’après avoir revisité les promesses de nos engagements envers le Seigneur, de tout mettre en œuvre pour rendre effectif l’appel au réarmement moral et spirituel des prêtres que nous sommes !Je ne vous apprends rien en vous disant que nous vivons à l’heure des réseaux sociaux, un véritable voyeurisme des temps nouveaux, où chaque acte posé, chaque parole prononcée, chaque geste est épié et grossi volontairement à souhait, avec des desseins parfois bien malveillants ? Nous avons une responsabilité et elle est grande : vivre toujours plus unis au Seigneur Jésus pour lui ressembler en paroles et en actes !
Encore une fois, ne craignons pas d’entreprendre, avec la confiance en Dieu et beaucoup de courage, un choix missionnaire capable de transformer toute chose, afin que les habitudes, les styles, les horaires, le langage et toute structure ecclésiale devienne un canal adéquat pour l’évangélisation du monde actuel, plus que pour l’auto-préservation.’’ Lettre du Pape François à l’occasion du centenaire de la promulgation de la lettre apostolique ‘‘Maximum Illud’’
L’invitation que je vous avais fait que chacun de nous veille sur la vie et le ministère de son confrère, je la réitère encore cette année : les aînés dans le sacerdoce, les vicaires généraux, épiscopaux et les curés doyens, veilleront à ce que s’installent entre nous, de vraies relations de fraternité, de solidarité et de partage. Peut-être, faudra-t-il instaurer un cadre de réflexion et d’accompagnement générationnel et qui consisterait à se retrouver en promotion pour nous parler régulièrement ?
L’invitation à ‘‘faire aux autres ce que vous voulez qu’ils fassent pour vous’’ doit trouver chez vous un écho particulier. J’insiste pour dire que les médisances, les calomnies, les ambitions personnelles démesurées ainsi que les jugements erronés sur les autres nos confrères nous discréditent à un plus haut point. Je vous en conjure, cette année, prêchez pour vous-mêmes avant tout, il y va de la crédibilité de notre presbyterium et de l’annonce de la Parole dont nous sommes les intendants.
Comme l’an dernier, j’accueillerai avec bienveillance toutes les initiatives pastorales qui viseraient un meilleur vécu de ce thème. Je vous exhorte à être pour vos fidèles, les premiers à vivre de ce thème. Trop de reproches nous sont faits quant à notre ponctualité, à notre façon d’accueillir nos fidèles, à nos célébrations qui sont tout sauf priantes et recueillies !
C’est donc un véritable cri de cœur que je vous lance : nos fidèles ont de plus en plus soif de Dieu et attendent de nous une action, celle que nous-mêmes aurions aimé avoir en pareille circonstance. L’état permanent de mission dont parle le Pape François, c’est celui qui trouve également son origine dans le fait que ‘‘… partout dans le monde, même après la chute des idéologies qui avaient fait du matérialisme un dogme et du rejet de la religion un programme, se diffuse une sorte d’athéisme pratique et existentiel qui coïncide avec une vision sécularisée de la vie et du destin de l’homme. Cet homme « tout préoccupé de lui-même, cet homme qui se fait non seulement centre de tous les intérêts, mais ose se dire le principe et la raison de toute réalité », se trouve toujours plus dépourvu du « supplément d’âme » qui lui est d’autant plus nécessaire qu’une plus grande disponibilité de biens matériels et de ressources lui donne l’illusion de l’autosuffisance. On n’a plus besoin de combattre Dieu, on se passe tout simplement de lui.’’Pastoresdabovobis 1 § 6
C’est à nous de montrer le chemin de Dieu à nos frères. Vous veillerez à faire en sorte que l’hymne retenue pour soutenir notre année pastorale soit connue de tous : chorales et fidèles.
